On train recorder that operates in a similar way to an aeroplane's black box recorder. It records almost everything that occurs on a train such as speed, settings, brake and power levels etc. It is now a legal requirement for all trains on Network Rail to be fitted with OTMR equipment. They are often downloaded to monitor drivers as part of their assesments but are also used to determine faults.
