I was wondering if Nebulaman or any other might be able to tell me how I might go about filming in the cab of a one train, preferably one of the sprinters on the Bittern Line. I'd quite like to film in the cab of a loco of some sort so once filmed, the 30 odd mile journey would be condensed into a few minutes of footage. I have already sent an email off to One customer services, but I'm a bit baffled as to where I should try other than them?
Any help would be most grateful!

| Not official this but you could ask the driver of the train. You wouldn't be allowed in the cab but you could sit in the carriage and pick up the camera at the end of the journey. The main problem with this is that the trains do rock a fair bit and the camera WILL come crashing down. There isn't really a suitable place in a 156 or 153. I will have a quick look when I am next in a cab and see if I can come up with any suggestions. Not tomorrow though as I am training on the simulator! |

I suggest you try the Mid Norfolk, or North Norfolk Railways for help in this project. Had the Bramley Line been running, we would have done all we can to help you. _________________ Please help us to 'Raise a Wagon Load of Cash' and so we can get the lease, then start running. I would ask the NNR, I'm sure they'd help but the only problem is the line is very short and slow. I have a tripod and the like. I just did a Cromer - Diss journey today, but completely forgot to ask anyone. _________________ My New Website | My Fotopic Site |

| I would also imagine your equipment would not be insured in the cab and the driver could be in hot water if the wrong people find out! But you never know there maybe a kind soul up front one day! |

If insurance is an issue, then that could be a problem. I only have the camera for a week as I'm borrowing it from my school. There are really only two dates when I could do the filming too, on the Friday and Saturday. _________________ My New Website | My Fotopic Site |

| Shame the drags aren't still on. I could have put it in the back cab! I think the best way is to do it officially and really the best way is by handwritten letter. I don't know who the best people to write to are but I would imagine it would be the people who can pull strings such as Clive Morris (Rural Director) etc. |

I am afraid I don't do passenger work at the moment. They are also getting pretty hot on cab security at the moment so I know most would not risk it. I hope they get back to you with more positive news!
I just had a reply from One:

Many thanks for your e-mail.
I am afraid that on the whole we do not allow filming in train cabs due to the health and safety issues surrounding such activity.
I am sorry to bring you this disppointing news and I do wish you the very best. |
I have emailed them back, in the hope that the fact that I'm taking a PTS exam next week. I doubt it though. Are you doing any of the runs on the Friday, Saturday or Sunday along the Bittern line (the 2nd, 3rd and 4th November) Nebuluman?
