Normally every other Sunday morning, I would be track clearing on the Bramley Line, but due to being rained off this weekend, a couple of us went to do some other work as such and noticed there was a considerable amount of freight about.

First of all, we went over to March, then further down the line to Turves, near Whittlesea, where we got to see quite a bit of freight passing one way or the other. It was here some while back, in FOG, that I saw several cars driven ROUND the barriers, with red lights flashing, as speeding trains approached and one driver quite rightly laying on the horn.

Knowing that Freight is generally a weekday matter, I was quite surprised at the amount about today and will endeavour to add some pictures on here soon.

This is just one of the pictures I got at Turves and of Class 66 723, literally at less than a minute warning it was even coming.

As the lights started flashing, my camera was in my pocket, but by the time it passed, this was the result and now I have it on my computer as a backdrop. IMHO, it is literally one of THE best I have ever taken and so very sudden in appearing.

Yet again yesterday, buses replaced trains between Peterborough and Ely, then Ely and Norwich, but that didn't stop the vast amount of freight in and out of Whitemoor Yard. In the space of just three-and-half-hours, there were more movements than I can remember. They were all of Class 66 from what I could make out as members of the Wisbech & March Bramley Line cleared some of the vegetation from the track close to the junction for a change.
