Started in April 2005, 'The Club' as it has now become affectionately known, have almost finished their first layout. It is 'OO' gauge and based on a ficticious town in East Anglia at the change of motive power and from steam to diesel. The layout is approximately 22' long and 2'6" wide, with the terminus one end and fiddle yard the other. It has been constructed with an extention in mind and to the shape of a letter 'h' so as to make it more interesting.

With an average of 10 regular attending, work has been done every week on the scenics and in one way or another, whether it is the baseboard, or the constructions of the buildings for it. One member came up with a different idea to other modellers and very soon adopted. To see what it is, you will have to look out at exhibitions we attend in 2008 and not too long to wait, because we have our first one to attend on 23 February in Norfolk.

At the start of 'The Club' and the first meeting, 28 people attended the first meeting. Sadly, because there was no layout to operate, many stopped away after the first meeting, a few left later and for various reasons, including one who claimed he was a 'Expert Exhibition Layout Builder' and so much of one, he tried to cut plastic sleepers off the end of lengths of track and solder METAL ones on, causing a short-circuit immediately any power was sent through.

Very soon after this and other matters, this member Resigned and his 'thought' Best Mate soon followed, because he didn't like the way his mate was kicked out? Before these two left, we were down to just 6 members, but soon as news spread, they'd gone, other members soon returned. Since then, 'The Club' has become one Happy Family Group. We have a good time every time we meet and there is also a Good sense of humour amongst us. Like all clubs, there is a lot of talk goes on, but then with us, there is also a lot of work done in those 2 hours a week that we meet.

Any ideas suggested get discussed by all and if agreed, we do it, but if there are any against, we look for any alternative ideas and go from there.

Do you have any pictures of the layout? It'd be nice to see a few as it sounds like a good project. At the Diss MRS, building has just started on a scale replica of Homersfield station, set in 30's LNER days.

Go to www.freewebs.com/wismrc and look for the link, but if not, come to East Dereham on Saturday 23rd February 2008, where we are booked to attend and exhibit the same.

If you get to visit Dereham in February, come and make yourself known to me and I will give you a sheet we have printed giving details of the layout.

Maybe he was modelling with the OO gauge hornby live steam, so a short-circuit wouldnt matter!! Only Joking!!!

I think it is excellent that there is a local model railway club in the area, and I would love to become a member, but probably would rarely attend alas, as I find myself mostly unavailable in the evenings due to being at work. This is entirely my own fault as I cannot get out of bed in the mornings. This can be verified by Mr Bramleyman as I have only attended one of the Bramleyline meetings once since I have been a member and moved to the area - Now you know who I am!!

I have some new pictures to put on the website as soon as I can sort out which ones to put on. Plenty to choose from.

Our Treasurer designed it as part of a course he was on and asked if we could use it. Naturally I had no hesitation in agreeing to it.
