A few photos/lineside shots now on my fotopic site Idea

It was a very good weekend, bundles of atmosphere from the hundreds in costume. Spent Saturday working in the workshops and Sunday mooching around. I ended up speaking to a couple of chaps who were filming the railway with an r/c chopper (see pictures). Spent a return on the footplate in the afternoon too.

I didn't know a Lancaster would turn up, ive only seen it briefly when I was travelling from Nottingham to Norwich in the car and spotted the Lancaster, spitfire and hurricane flying over on their way to an event I presume.

always had a love for them as my great grandfather whom I met briefly when I was younger was a rear gunner in a Lancaster, based in Lincolnshire I think, he was the only male in the family to live through the war all his 7 brothers perished, but his two sisters survived.
thank goodness he survived or I wouldn't be here

I attended this years event and Thoroughly enjoyed it, even to travelling behind City of Truro that I had waited 33 years to do.

If anybody didn't enjoy the event, then it is entirely their own fault. The only minor thing to make it look out of place was some guy dressed as a GI and with his mobile stuck to this ear. I commented that it was the first time I knew mobiles were around in the 40's, but then the Americans are full of surprises.

My thanks go to everybody involved in making the day very special and so enjoyable, not just the volunteers who obviously worked so hard, but all the stall-holders, classic vehicle owners and other people who took the trouble to dress up for such a Fabulous event.

After 33 years of waiting, I finally got to travel behind 'City of Truro' on Saturday and so here's the best photo I got of it, at the NNR 40's Weekend.
