very ood pics. What the new layout going to be? Same gauge? What period, or theme, or perhaps (like me) no real period or theme, just a place to run trains.

The new layout will measure roughly 8'x7', and will cover my favourite period of the Railways - the BR Black and Green Early - Late 50's. It will be in 00 Gauge and hopefully, fingers crossed I should have enough money to get my hands on Hornby Live steam!

I had a guy phone me up the other day wanting to flog a 1974 Hornby freight set, consisting of a Green LNER B12, 7 wagons, track, 2 crossovers, level crossing, cardboard tunnel, controller - minus plug and a disk by Bernard Cribbins in its original box. He hopes to get £60 for it, but I took it to a dealer and got told in the condition it is, he would give £25 maximum for it.

Did you buy it in the end?

I don't really consider buying too much old stuff. Most Triang items aren't worth much (with the exception of the blue Pullman etc). The trouble with the loco's is that unless you are going to keep them in the box on display, the motors are generally kaput, and the detailing is not as good. Of course, if you are after a nostalgic trip, it's another matter!

I'm just going to get Ramsay's Book of Trains to see how much it should be worth.

According to my book:

Your B12, R866AS (8509) Was Produced from 1971 - 1974, has a value of £25 Unboxed and a Value of £40 Mint and Boxed. According to this, it should make smoke and noise!

Do you have the name of the set, or are the bits all separate? Also, do you have the names of any of the rolling stock because some items are worth a bit.
