For many years, trains from Kings Lynn went direct to London Liverpool Street. Up until electrification, most trains were loco-hauled and some truly great pictures could be gained by the enthusiast. We all have our favourites, and for me, in the diesels, it was class 47's, followed closely by 31's.

Pictured below and prior to electrification being started, is NSE liveried class 47 579 - James Nighthall GC, approaching Denver Crossing with an up train, back in late 1980's with a Lynn driver at the controls.

Out of all the pictures I have taken of NSE class 47's in action, this is my favourite.

Mostly Kings Cross these days. Got some more pics today and will add on here when printed.

Kings Lynn man 'up front' and now retired, like me. I actually 'worked' this as a Guard as well.

The last loco-hauled service to Kings Lynn, took place on Sunday 13th May 1990 and left Cambridge at 18.18, hauled by NSE liveried class 47 581, Great Eastern.

At the time, a Stewart Davies was Station Manager at Cambridge and when he left, He presented Me with a framed photograph of the train just prior to departure. To this day, I still have it and up on the wall near where I am typing this.

Some years ago when we had loco-hauled services, there was a derailment at Downham Market and across the level crossing as the train was entering the station from Liverpool Street. I was fortunate enough to be allowed to take a couple of photo's of it and here is one of them.
