|
|
| I was talking to our signaller the other day and he said that the rail industry are now not allowed to build diesel trains. All must be electric. He said that the line from Norwich to Great Yarmouth will be electrified. Also he said that only the swingbridge boxes at Reedham, Somerleyton, Trowse and Oulton Broad South will be retained under a resignalling schemen with all the rural signalling going to Trowse rather than Colchester. This is the first I have heard unless anyone knows any different. The electrification of the Yarmouth line rumour has been going on for about a year now. |

Good point. I guess all new trains must adhere to strict environmental guidelines.
Errata: Oulton Broad Swingbridge box does not exist anymore. It was replaced by a groundframe. |

I've heard these rumors for other a year.
i. Re diesel trains - as long as they meet guidlines then they can be built. Just think about Merdians, Voygers and the like.
ii. Resginalling - I've heard that the plan is to move rural signalling to Trowse, and move Colcehster signalling to Liverpool LS
iii Re Electricifcation - How much would it cost? How much would it save?
For all three I am trating them as rumors, and probably wihout grounds |

Well re-electrification is needed as there is always problems on the GEML with the overhead lines, so surely any investment will give One the chance to run a punctual service!
