I have on video the Liverpool Street to Kings Lynn cab ride with the late Dale Gilbert from Lynn depot in charge of 47 581 for this journey and made on the 10.35 service of 8th March 1989. Most unfortunately, Dale suffered a fatal heart attack a few years after this video was made and on the day he was due to take his family on the holiday he won, to Australia.
Cambridge based Traction Inspector George Towler, gave the commentry on this vid and it is so lovely to see the section from Cambridge to Kings Lynn prior to the electrification even starting to take place. I like George's comment he made upon arrival at Lynn. To find out what he said, get a copy if you can and watch, but on arrival at Lynn, make sure you are listening to it as well.
For reference to getting this video, it was produced by Railscene and numbered Cab Ride 22.
